Bit confused with these newer different axle types, I have standard QR frame, will getting this hub be suitable
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-pro2-mtb-rear-hub/
Is that the solid axle type that will fit into my frame? Carrera Gryphon disc.

Your frame is standard Qr 10mm so you will need a 10 mm axel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Any hubs with 10mm axle?Say... That's a nice bike..

If you get a suitable axel. And the hub is the correct width.
But what that all has to do with the hope hub linked!"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

That hub doesn't come with the axle? I'm using a 185mm threaded axle at the moment as the trailer hitch is about 5mm thick.Say... That's a nice bike..

No, the hub doesnt come with the axle. The fitting(qr, 10mm, 12mm etc) denotes the size of the hub endcap and therefore the axle diameter that will fit.
Hubs come in different widths too(135, 142, 150 etc). You will need a 135mm one as that is the width between the rear dropouts on your frame. You therefore will need a 135x10mm rear axle and the corresponding hub.
Superstar sell these axles. They also sell some really nice wheels(see link in your last thread)
The problem you may have is that the axle may be too short to fit the trailer if you currently run a 185mm long one-the superstar ones will probably be about 150mm or so to cover the thickness of the dropout itself as the 135 is internal width.
You should be able to get someone to make up a longer 10mm axle and then fit the lever and nut from the superstar axle to it.

So what are you wanting to do?
What have you got now and what are you replacing?
As it makes buggerall sence to me."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It's flat bar road bike with disc brakes, MTB 135mm sized hub.Say... That's a nice bike..

As nothing so far is not normal.
Everything is standard."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Need a wheelset, and cannot find ready made suitable wheelset, since 10mm bolt through/axle options are available for some hubs and since I use a trailer something will consider. According to Hope, you can get hope pro 2 in 10mm bolt through or nutted axle. Blooming expensive though matching Hope hubs with custom build will cost the same as the bikeSay... That's a nice bike..

But they take a 10mm through axel which will not be suitable fo a trailer. You would have to get an axel made up to suit.
A 10mm qr like superstars will not work either.
Just get. Shimano huber rear nd change the axel out to a solid threaded one."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so shimano m756 and use my existing new 185mm solid axle?Say... That's a nice bike..

What about Hope Technology Pro 2 Evo Rear Hub, 10mm nutted?Say... That's a nice bike..
Trax T700 with Lew Racing Pro VT-1 ;-)0 -
Nope unless you have an axel specially made.
It does not use a threaded axel.
It is for a through axel like a maxel or a DH type set up. Where the nut is mainly preloading the bearings and here are some other pinch bolts clamping the axel etc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
But surely all you have to do is thread the bolt through my trailer hitch through the drop out and into the hub?
http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... e_Rear_Hub
Get a slightly longer bolt?Say... That's a nice bike..
Trax T700 with Lew Racing Pro VT-1 ;-)0 -
In theory yes. ( looks like they have changed the design from the original bolt in). Check the bolt sizes.
But I would be wanting to checkout what the axel material is. As I have a thought it is aluminium."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
