If you had to choose between a cannondale caad 8 or a GT Gtr Series 3 for a 2nd/winter bike - which one would go for and why?

24 months interest free deal and these are the only 2 I can choose from. Both have tiagra group sets and the cannondale is 50 snots dearer.

Thanks.

I'd look at the clearance for mudguards on both. I recently put some on my older CAAD5 and it had bags or room, even had proper mounts bolts on the frame and carbon fork!

With your budget I would also look at the Trek 2.1 which is currently on offer at Triton Cycles for £850

Mostly 105 except for the brakes and it comes with mudguard eyelets front and rear - so ideal for winter use without any faffing about. Don't see any finance being offered by Triton but you could always call and check.
