i have had basically just over a month off for my wedding and honeymoon. i now have 6 good weeks to prep for my local sportive which is also the first 100km ride i will have done. got it all planned though. I'm going to start riding to and from work, only a 7 mile round trip but will add 30 odd miles to my weekly milage. i was going to try and introduce a really really hard hill ride once a week, a couple of other rides all adding to about say 50 miles then a good longer ride at the weekend. if i have chance i want to compliment this with a couple of resistance training sessions just to help strengthen things up.
i have a bit of a rivalry with someone about a foot shorter and at least 4st lighter so this is my motivation even if i can't beat him!

beat your ass today so you can kick his tomorrow. The more you suffer, the faster you will go.0

Okay, the first thing to do is get on your bike and ride to the nearest cashpoint. Withdraw cash to your limit and then start riding and don't stop for the next three weeks. You may get pangs of conscience saying you should turn back and get married but don't, just focus on beating the midget in six weeks. Now turn round and cycle home explainin the logic to your now ex-partner, they're bound to understand.
Result: You are far fitter and will beat the short stack at the sportive and by not being married you'll have far more money to spend on bikes. A win win situation.0 -
100 km is about 60 miles, I'm a newbie and unless you are really unfit you'll do it easy. I'm surprised that I'm saying this but its not really that far.
Good luckTurned out nice again!0 -
its not so much the distance that worries me, more the time. 6'3 and well probably a lot nearer 16st than 15 as result of our cruise and some decent climbs to do. so my average pace is pretty poor but i am aiming to rack a lot of miles up and take it very seriously for the next 6 weeks and try to prepare as well as i can full warm ups and down etc eat right. to keep anywhere near his time will feel a victory to me.enigma esprit

usually my fitness dives when i don't keep going and out weight on but my first 2 rides have been pretty decent, nothing flash but i got up one of my local climbs pretty well. the other thing this was the first rides i had done since my new handlebars, saddle, seat post and stem. i think the bike feels lighter....could be just in my head though. i would also say the bike was more responsive now.i do think i need to tweak a few things like saddle height but happy with myself at the moment!enigma esprit

It will be a lot cheaper in the long run if you don't get married. Spend a fortune on bikes instead and watch free porn if you have to, but dont get feckin married for fecks sake!Trek Madone 3.5
