mounting D-Lock on bike

I bought myself a Kryptonite D-lock for my GT Avalanche 1.0 bike, the lock its self seems great, the mounting bracket though seems pretty useless, im finding it tough getting a place to put the lock without it bashing against the frame when i take it off the bracket etc..

are there any better brackets you can buy that are generic etc?

Just put it in a back pack while out, that's what I do, and it looks much better IMO.
