Open Street Maps....

I recently got a Garmin to map my rides and went for the Open Street Maps as opposed to Garmin maps. Stupidly I planned my ride and didn't realise some of the roads were actually off road tracks, stupid I know. I tried the "find home" option but it wouldn't work, is this because i'm using OSM and not Garmin maps? Or am I just being doublely stupid or impatient at waiting for it work out a route?

I suspect that you are not using the unit correctly.
Can you please elaborate on the "find home" function?
Do you mean, menu, where to, back to start function. If so what was the error message and secondly did you start the timer at the beginning of your trip?0 -
The timer was started at the start of my trip and the find home function was from the menu and find places function. It came up saying that it was calculating the route but just stayed on "calculating 100%" and didn't create any route/map for me to follow.Road - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12777154&p=16943702#p16943702

Which garmin do you have?
The 800 has a "where to" menu, did you use a map point or something else. I do not see a "places" menu.
The etrex series have a "find" , then sub menu0 -
I've the 705. I probably just need to use it a bit more and become more familiar with it, oh well, it got me home so it did the trick anyway.Road - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12777154&p=16943702#p16943702

I found setting my edge 705 to "car routing" using the OSM works perfectly no more off roadingRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0
