Im looking to buy a new crankset, interested in the sram x9 2x10 but always thought i would need to buy a triple and convert it to double and bash? or buy a standard double and bash chainset, until i saw this review on bikeradar
http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/categ ... er_reviews
from the picture, it looks like they have just slapped a bash on the outside as the spider appears to be the same as a standard 2x10 set up?
does this mean i can just buy the standard 2x10 and add a bash guard later on if i think it needs it?

Nope and nope.
One issue is the BCD the second is there is no mounting face.
If you warn a bash look at a 2 and bash or a 3 and get a bash to fit. Not easy for the SRAM kit."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

yeah thats kinda what i thought
so what is the chainset in the review?
it says 2x10 and optional bash (£34) but from what i can see all sram x9 is 120 BCD and i cant find any 120 BCD bash guards anywhere?0
