nice!
i was going to get the blue one of these but i wanted a full suss frame a bit sooner so decided to get something used instead0 -
Very nice! Really fancied one of those frames myself; however, I'm not too sure I'd call that build 'budget'!0
-
to be fair the frame looks well over a grand, plus at least 4-500 notes for the totems.
i reacon total cost £2200. give or take a few pence.
looks damn nice though!, hopefully it rides aswell as it looks.2011 KHS Full Susser Carbon 29er Race BuildClank wrote:M'eh, I might just go back to zapping it with frikken lay-zur beeeems. And sharks.0 -
Very nice, as above though not sure where the 'budget' part comes in! Also, need any help out in Whistler? I can provide much cake...!
See you went coil then. See if you can blag a test on a CCDB Air whilst you're out there, heard some very good things.Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go - T.S. Eliot0 -

sweet thanks for the comments...
the budget comes in as it only cost me £1200 to build... but thats because i had money from the sale of the demo to fund this build,, then i called in alot of favors i was owed to get some decent discounts and did some trading to get the more expensive bits.. perks of having friends in the trade.....
i will post some pics of the completed bike soon,,,
the brake hoses have now been trimmed but i still not sized chain or fitted the chain device or indexed the gears..
and i still waiting on my chromag bits to arrive,, stupid bank holiday...
and yeah i did decide on coil shock in the end as it's what i am used to... would love to try the ccdb or a bos or rockshox air shocks but at the mo there's not a chance,, i already spent £1200 more than i should of building this bike, and it's gonna cost me £££s for a lift ticket for the bike park..
unless one of the 15 plus jobs i applied for in the past few weeks comes through,, then i will have money to play with....
and us bikers always love and need cake....www.bearbackbiking.com

Have fun fitting the chain guide, always the worst part of any bike build... lol0
-
tell me about it tried for hours on saturday to get the thing to line up but failed.. in the end i gave up and built the rest of the bike.. gonna cheat and let the shop or one of the guides in whistler do it..
chromag bits arrived this morning.

Bah, took me forever on the slayer... once I had it sorted though, it was easy on the orange.0
-
i was kinda pushed for time, as i had been up and out by 630 that sat morning to go oooooooooooop to the lakes to meet my mate and get the parts, had to be there before 800 as he was working..then get back home and call into the lbs to get a few other parts.
then let the build commence. fitted the headset cups first then the bb then attempted to fit the chain device but no matter what we did it would not line up. (73mm shell requires a 51mm chainline) lost about 1hr 45mins with this so i had to leave it off and finish the build as i had to be home to get the little un....
still need to size chain and index gears yet,, but the bike needs stripping to be bagged up for it's trip to the mecca..www.bearbackbiking.com

Awesome I'll be taking the Orange, going purely for the downhill!0

Well that may change soon eh Col, take it easy out in whistler and bring back some good vids of that bike in action, I want to have a play on it.....
Looks really nice, not sure about the white seat though..0 -
pure downhill,, you will enjoy it,, especially when you dont have to pedal to get back up to the top...
will do,, cant wait... and the seat was a tricky one it was on offer and kind of went with the colour scheme, so i got it it does look pretty smart on the bike. but lets see how long it stays white...
the seat i wanted was the octane one,,, one but after reading a few reviews i changed my mind as it acts like a sponge when wet, it absorbs water so you end up with a wet arse... and i know we are bound to see rain over there..
as for the videos there will be loads going up probably daily....
the reason for my free trip is to do some videos and photoraphy for bearback.. so will doing a few vids of their staff who are amazing riders....
enjoy your trip to the alps...www.bearbackbiking.com

Sounds awesome, i'll be looking forward to seeing some vids! Pretty good excuse for a free holiday to whistler too! How long are you out there for? No doubt I'll be uploading some videos of our alpine adventures as well. Been watching some videos, there's some awesome looking trails out there, flat out and jumpy to steep and tech, i'm sure i'll enjoy it! Thinking of doing a season there next year, might take both bikes out if I do, do a bit of epic all mountain as well as the downhill.0

2 weeks.. yeah i could not believe my luck when i got the freebie opportunity to go back... we been going to whistler and staying with bear back biking for the last 5 year twice a year..
when mark asked me a few months back why we had not booked to come back this year i told him i still had no job and was struggling and could not afford it.. they offered to shout me a freebie if i was prepared to do some media work for them for their sponsers and do a few days trail building for them... so i thought long and hard about for 1/100th of a second and said yes... so hence this hol...
then cue bank of brother subbing me a few quid to get this soda.. not to mention my bud lee who got me most of the parts to build it @ trade.www.bearbackbiking.com
