Hi @all

I am in the middle of getting myself a new bike....

And it is now down to either a Canyon Torque Trailflow 7.0 http://www.canyon.com/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2574
or

a Norco Truax 2 http://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/freeride/truax/

But.. I just cant seem to make up my mind which one to get!!
The Canyon of course has a really tight feature list, the Norco is in comparison a little middle of the range.

Does any one have any experience of the Truax? and how is it going uphill?

    Hi Pete,

I got a truax2 since last october and I only tested a little the torque.

With stock equipment going uphill with the truax is quiet hard.
First of all seatpost is too short and you need a telescopic one in order to lower it enough when you start descending.
Then the bike is bobbing untill you get an air or anyway stabilized shock.

I spent some money in a dhx 5 air, a rockshox reverb and (but this is me, not something really needed) a fox van rc fork.
In this way you can climb anything you usually do with an AM bike. Geometry is good and pedalling is easy.
I made some other improvments but if you are planning to climb 1000 or more meters in altitude this first three ones are mandatory.

So if climbing is primary and you don't want to spend other money go with the torque. Let me say I'm very happy with my truax, but you have to add at least a 20% of the list price to have a true climber capability(as norco advertise the truax).

Descending is a no chance comparison, truax is a rocket. The torque is good but we are talking of another class of bike.

    Hoping being helpful.....

I can't comment on the Torque but a friend of mine has the Truax and she loves it - a bomber DH oriented ride - but she shuttles it to the top of the hill, it can be peddled for sure but its weighty and pretty active on its shock with no way of locking out.

If you are using it all mountain you may find it hard work.

I got the canyon a few weeks ago. pedals really really well and its very happy riding (proper) downhill too. Seems the only thing that ur missing with the canyon is the coil on the back, which you could get second hand for a few hundred quid. Having said that the dhx 5.0 is stupidly plush. I got the optional reverb upgrade too for like £160. If anything you might want to sell the floats and put some vans on - but thats a personal preference... I havent got any complaints about the canyon.
