I need to get some decent shoes and I found a review on here http://m.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/clothing/shoes/product/review-salomon-xa-pro-3d-ultra-2-shoes-12-46211/

Thing is, I've looked up those shoes and even Wiggle or CRC call them running shoes and say they're trail running shoes and when I do a search on them, they come up as running shoes.

I'm confused! :?

I prefer the look of trainers to as they coined the "Frankenboot" style FiveTen, however I appreciate the support offered by proper MTB shoes and am considering them.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend anything to look at really. I ride with flats and not SPDs and wouldn't consider changing either.

Cheers

Kristian

I was after a salomon jacket in one of this months bike magazines, all the websites ive find that on listed it as a running jacket. Probably doesnt help, but i think its just outdoor wear.

They are running shoes, I tried a pair on (for running in) and they felt great.

I've just got some Teva Links. They are brilliant.

5 10 freeriders. Look just like a trainer / skate shoe and are great on flats.
  • What they like for keeping clean? It's pretty clarty round where I ride so I worry about getting them muddy.

I sprayed mine with some of the nikwax waterproof spray and they stay pretty dry and are easy to clean. When it's really sh1tty ie winter (so august to july :) ), I stick a pair of neoprene overshoes over the top, planet x ones actually and they stay dry and clean as.

Unless you have leather type shoes, they'll all be a bit of a faff to keep clean. However, as said, the nikwax really does make a big difference.
  • Brilliant! Thank you! Looking at some now.

I've not used the Links in really muddy mud, but what has hit them so far comes off with a sponge.
