I need to replace the headset in my frame and its the first time I've had to pay any attention to this component.
I think I need to replace it with a traditional inch and 1/8th threadless headset but would like that confirmed before spending any money.
I've taken a pic which might aid in identifying/confirming what I need.
Please have a look and help me if you can.

Yes, looks like a traditional external 1 1/8 ahead headset.

    It looks like it.

Measure and check against the info on Parktools.

Definitely looks like a standard 9/8th headset.
Since I doubt you have your own headset press anyway, and will need to take it to a local bike shop to get the headset removed and refitted, then I'd suggest you just get the headset from the bike shop too. Most will fit it cheaper, or even for free if you buy it there.

It looks like an external 1 1/8 " headset. Double check the headtube measurement when you've got the old one out - inside tube diameter should be 34mm.

    Thanks for all the comments.

I've ordered one from an eBay trader and also the tool to do it.

I'll let you know how I get on!
