anyone else brave it this morning? I'm really enjoying my rides in to work, lovely tailwind all the way. I've been under 45mins for the last 3 commutes to work, but always over 55mins on my way home!0

what size? Mine have been really good at stopping punctures, only had the one that i photographed a few pages ago, by my god they are heavy. Nightmare to get on and off the rims too, there is a definite knack to it, and having cable ties or sticky tape to hold it in place is the only way I've managed it.0 -

Was torn between the 25's and 28's - Guess i'll see how i go fitting them...0 -
Wasn't too bad for me this morning - 05:45-06:15. Hailstones were belting down at 05:30, which made me question my sanity, but they subsided and it was only a little chilly, with a light covering on the less used tracks0
-
It's not too bad but anything over 12mph feels like getting tattooed in the face with ice needles.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Enjoyed this mornings ride in....pissed it with the wind direction, going home is not going to be as much fun...0

I was getting really really infuriated by lights this morning. After the first 3 miles I was about 300meters or so a head of my best and flying, until I hit Nissan where I cross a road. I have never seen traffic like it on that road which is normally quite quiet and I get straight over. 3 mins later I was finally away, the next split at 20mins i had gone from being ahead, to nearly 1/2 a mile behind yesterday. Then I managed to hit every frigging light on the Felling Bypass, most of them changing from green to red in front of me so i had to wait the full round. I ended up getting in 7 minutes slower than yesterday, and that wasn't a unusually lucky in regards to lights.0

Headwinds on the home leg are killing me!
Nearly come off where they have dug the coast rd path up. Slid on the mud and went a little sideways.0 -
I would like to know if the guy who i see pretty much every night, and some mornings when i leave early going the same route i do in the car, goes up the A194 from Lindisfarne, up leam lane through wrekenton and down towards the valley. No idea where he goes or comes from after them locations!
Rides a MTB, in all weathers. White/bit red on the forks, cant remember the colour of the frame. Wears a white helmet, always with a bright light on, and one on the bike.
To clarify, i dont commute. If i was an office worker i would but my job is already physically demanding.0 -
Must have jinxed myself above as i came off thismorning at the exact same spot. Got my arm trapped in the railings they have put around the work holes and stretched my shoulder/chest as i carried on and my arm didnt. Also found my legs were still clipped in but i was in such an awkward position on the floor it took me ages to free myself.
Must have raised a few laughs to any cars passing at the time lol0 -
Anyone else taking full advantage of the easterlies we've been having by attacking some of the westbound strava sections these last few weeks - and then suffering in the freezing wind on the ride home? Forecast is for usual warm and wet westerly service to resume next week though.0
-
Getting really sick of this wind now to be honest, in my face the whole way home after a long day a work. I wouldn't mind so much if it was mixed up a bit, but it is constant hard winds in my face day in day out on my way home.0

Off the bike for a few days. This long Winter has finished it off after last year's floods along with my relaxed approach to maintenance, too many bits breaking and needing replaced and now the frame's beyond economical repair. I've finally committed to a road bike but I have some decent parts on it and would like to turn it back I to a mountain bike for me and my son to mess about on and to use next Winter to avoid the worst wear. So if anyone has a old frame and fork they haven't gotten around to building chuck me a PM and I may take it off your hands.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Good to hear that you are ok. How did the bike fare?2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

Glad it wasn't serious, what happened and where?0
-
ouch, glad you didn't get any serious injuries. Prme example of why we should always wear one, that could have resulted in a cracked skull.0

1 year ago I got my road bike and started commuting on it. My totals for the year are, 3564 miles, 241 hours 38mins and (according to runkeeper) 163,615 calories with an average speed of 14.95mph. Very pleased with that, averaging 10miles everyday of the year.0

Junction coming onto Wallsend high street......i was travelling on a slight downhill approaching the lights.....lights changed as i was right on top of them.....not sure what the general consensus is but i think the law states you should carry on....bearing in mind i'm going a fair old speed.....car basically was coming from my left spun off the lights and hit me side on......i bailed onto the bonnet....thankfully the collision speed wasn't that great....i hit my brakes but knew i was gonna get hit.....
Got my repaired bike back yesterday good as new...back riding into work today...0 -

Ohh Sh**e.....odd shower and 39kmph :x0 -
Hmm, raining now.
Do I
A: Wear the soft shell under my waterproof and risk the inevitable boil in the bag situation.
Or,
B: Thin base layer and risk being cold
Might go for B, and pedal harder0 -
B is always better. But can you not wear the soft shell on top of the base layer?0
-
That's what I did in the end, forgot its quite water resistant0
-
For once the weather forcast was right on Sunday.
Tour of the Borders was brutal...the first 25miles were without doubt the worst conditions i've ever rode in.....well earned rest day today.0 -
i wouldn't have like to have been out on Sunday, it was extremely windy! Lovely day for a ride in this morning, slightly windy but not too bad. Warm enough to leave the jacket and full winter gloves at home for the first time in months!0
