I want to convert my 42-32-24 Deore triple to 36-24 with a bash guard.

Does anyone know if the K-Edge bash guard (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/k-edge-ring-guards-4-bolt/) will install on my crank with the standard chainring bolts or does it need longer bolts? (which I can't really be bothered with, want to do this simply and cheaply)

Otherwise what about the Hope Bashguard? Will it work with the standard bolts, just replacing the 42 ring?

Both should install using the same chainring bolts that you chainset has fitted, but be aware that the K-Edge isn't designed for all mountain/freeride appilcations. It's designed for XC use along side their chain guide

Thanks. Seems like the Hope might be the way to go then.

Still deciding whether to go 36/24 or just keep 32/24. Obviously the latter is easier, just not sure how much I'll miss the top 3 or so gears
