both bell and reflectors on both my hybrid and my roadie. Both a valuable part of my keeping myself and others safe and being courteous strategy. I do quite a lot of my cycling on the lovely Tarka, Granite and Camel trails. Particularly at this time of year they are full of other users, recreational cyclists, walkers, runners, dog owners and they often seem oblivious to the fact that they are on a cycle trail and that there is an old git on a bike approaching at 16mph. So a friendly warning tinkle from some way away with a thank you and where necessary a clear on the left/right command. And dare i say it, even slowing down a bit. Other parts of my strategy include reflective gear, lights, no mp3 player, a helmet and loads of concentration. Not hit anyone yet and dont think ive pissed anyone off either, so must be doing summat right .... Some old folks dont respond to bells because i dont think they can hear them
