Finally did a 100 mile charity ride at Norwich on Sunday, having previously reached 87 as a max.

A pretty tiring work-out and in the sun. Fortunately had plenty of sunblock. A hell of a pace for the first 30 miles and no way could I have kept that going.

But road surfaces gave hellish rumble at times. At around 85 miles, I stopped for to use the toilet facilities in a hedge and had no sensitivity at all on the relevant part. Nothing. It was a bit of a shock. There was a fantastic girl ahead in bondage lycra - with a tattoo on her lower back - and I felt concentrating on that had medical validity.

Fortunately, my symptoms were temporary, but I couldn't get out of the lycra soon enough.

Not being a competitive cyclist, I felt 100 miles was too much of a slog to be much fun. Glad I did it (it was actually 98.7 miles), but I won't be a hurry to do another. The 50-75 miles are more fun.

But it was a great way to see Norfolk.

Make sure you regularly get out of the saddle to make sure blood flows to your tackle.

Saddle too soft or too narrow, would be my guess. Probably the former.
