Hi
I am after some new pedals which have a flat and Spd option. There are different models, does anyone know the difference?
Any recommendations?

Don't do it, they are the worst of both types.
Pick one, or get a cheapish set of both and switch - only takes a minute or two.I don't do smileys.

No really, don't do it! If you want pedals for quickly going round to the shops etc you can buy spd's with a cage for some/little support, however I really didn't like them and got M520's instead.0

What they said - they really aren't any good.
I tried them and found they were more trouble than they were worth. Heavy, get clogged up with mud and just didn't feel right.
I now have some M530s and some Nuke Proof flats and swap them when I need to. Takes no time at all.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

I have some friends who use shimano DXs (SPDs with the plastic cage) and swear by them for downhill as they give a little extra support, particularly if you have to stick a foot out. I'm quite tempted by some M530s.0
