Garmin 800 - mapping

Ive had my new garmin 800 for over a week, first impressions are i love it. Great bit of kit.
I decided to try and download a route from 'mapmyrun' under the cycling bit. I mapped i nice 42 mile route out for this morning. Things were going great, through numerous villages and lanes when i hit a T junction and the road that i had mapped was a dirt track(not good enough for a roady) and marked private road... OOPs !!!
Any ideas of the best mapping to use to download routes to prevent this thing happening ?!>? or do i need just to be far more meticulous?
