Giant XTC?

Saw one in the flesh the other day and it got me drooling. Think the price was 859. I also picked up to feel the weight of a Felt priced at 2000 now that was light.

Would the XTC be a worthy upgrade for my Giant Terrago Trail? Is there much difference in the frame weight?

Can better be had for the same price, general XTC.

The complication may be that I want to buy it on ride2work and I don't think Evans Cycles deal with Giant do they?

Yes, the difference would be noticeable. Forks, drivetrain, frame, they are all better by a mile than the Terrago.

Pretty good spec for the money.I still love riding my XTC even though mine is 6 years old and I now have an Anthem.
Fast XC bike though, not so good for trail riding.

Ah right no good for trails?

What else do you recommend then? I mainly ride Lyme Park and Maccesfield Foreset in Cheshire.

Do Giant do weekend demo bikes you can hire?

Don`t get me wrong I`ve ridden trails on mine but its designed more as a fast xc bike. It`s geo is steep and fairly racy.
Not familiar with those trails, mine is great on twisty singletrack but feels out of its depth on technical descents and is a bit unforgiving.

It really depends on the type of terrain where you are likelly to ride most.As always testing is the only way to find out what works for you.

If you decide you need something a bit better on the technical stuff have you looked at the Giant Talon? Or something like the Whyte 901 or Genesis Core might be worth a look if you want something a bit more trail friendly.

This would be my choice in your price range.

Have you looked on the GIant website for demo weeekends?

I'm so confused now do I keep my Terrago for another year or taking advantage of the 30 percent off via ride2work. Any other recommendations at Evans?
