Like the title says guys.
I am thinking of cycling to work now so want to have a road bike.
Please recommend me a bike according to the title.
I have seen a Forme one from CRC with heavy discount.
I've looked at Canyon Road lite but probably need to wait for a long time and I have no idea if it is any good or not.
Please advice.

All very much depends on your budget. Don't forget to factor in an extra £100 or so for clothing and things like lights and lock. If you're buying from your lbs, they should do a bike fit fo you to get it set up properly; if not, it's probably the best £50(ish) you will spend.
Try before you buy if possible - a great spec for a low price doesn't represent good value for money if it's not something you're going to enjoy riding!0 -
You need to provide more parameters as VFM means different things to different folks.Yellow is the new Black.0

Ok probably I am not expressing myself correctly.
Best value for money could be any budget. I prefer to stay away from the 1500+ and prefer something below that.
I've already got a Canyon Strive ES 9.0 about 3 weeks ago and I am keen on Canyon but I know nothing of road bikes so everything listed means almost nothing to me so I have no idea what is good or not.
Best value could be £500 or £1000 but as long as it is one that you think you will buy if you see a deal coming and you can't refuse that kind of deal.
I don't know if I am expressing myself correctly.0 -
For example. I am now looking at Canyon Roadlite. For that price is it a good buy? Would you buy it? If not what alternatives will you get?
I see Forme bike deal on CRC for £999 at 40% off is that a good deal over Canyon?
My budget is around £400 to £1500 and so best value for money anywhere in between those two numbers.0 -

James thank you for the links. Looking at the Sub 1000 they all look good. But the thing is they are all 4 Star and half. Which one of those will you guys choose?!0 -
Road bikes for commuting should be a little more practical than competitive race bikes. They should have a tad more tyre clearance, some eyelets for mudguards and possibly a rear luggage rack. Some people prefer lower gears because they are not riding at race speeds. The classic "winter training" road bike is Kenesis TK.
Road bikes are the best option for longer commutes but for shorter ones, the speed advantage is not so important.0 -
would reccommend Kinesis but maybe Ribble or if not fussed about the brand try Revolution cycles from Edinburgh Bike coop.0

Lots of choice sub £1500. For commute some good advice on a bike that gives you practicality with provision for mudguards and racks. For VFM on spec of components on decent frames look at Boardman, Cube, Kinesis, Forme, Mekk amongst others. Make a shortlist and then try and get out to try the bikes to see what fits best.
Cannondale Synapse, Specialized Secteur are other less race orientated road bikes which may be of interest although you will pay more for equal componentry ie Tiagra groupset versus 105 on something from Cube.Trek Madone 5.9

Since Forme is now menionted what do you guys think of this deal?

worth getting?0 -
So no love for our own british bike maker then?
No Forme?
Heard the ride is not too bad.
Now I am coming down to three choices.
The Forme,
Canyon Ultimate AL 9.0 and
Giant Defy 1.
Help me choose.0 -

No experience of the Forme but have a Kinesis cyclocross bike which is excellent and I believe they and Forme are of the same stable. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Spec looks great value at the price with 105 groupset and full carbon. Wheels are basic and would be the first thing to change but otherwise on paper it looks like value jackpot. If you can get the size you need then worth a go.Trek Madone 5.9

Thank you for the advice. Life time warranty tempting but never know how long they last. English companies never last for that long untill it becomes someone elses brand.0
