Im looking at buying a hardtail mountain bike for a mixture of trail & road riding. I've come across the cube acid which i really like the look of. Can anybody give me any adive on this bike, value for money, quality of components etc etc?? And will the bike cope with the majority of Red rated trail runs? The bike cost's about £770.

I see alot of good things said about the voodoo hoodoo and rockrider but how does this bike compare (apart from being more expensive!)

The spec is;

14", 16", 18", 20", 22"
Alu Lite AMF 6061 RFR-Geometry, Disc only
grey 'n'_blue
Rock Shox Recon TK Air, 100mm, Poploc

Shimano BR-M445 hydr. discbrake(160/160mm)
Shimano FC-M522 42x32x24T, 175mm, with BB-ES25
Alex ZX 24

Schwalbe Smart Sam 2.25
Impac AV14
Fasten Alu

It's very similar to the £500 RockRider, same fork. Gears on the Cube perhaps shade the RR, but the RR comes with HTII cranks.

    But there's not £270 difference.

I initially looked at the Cube Acid, but having found this forum (and the actual review of the Voodoo Hoodoo on this site) I took a punt on the VH. Absolutely love it, for the price especially whilst at £449 its a huge difference on the Cube.
That said, as i was advised here, go and sit on them, see how the feel etc., I was unable to get to Decathlon so only looked at the VH and the Acid, even the guy selling the cube was honest and said for just starting out the VH was a lot of bike.

If you do go for the Acid, you will save money buying from here:
    http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1860/ ... white.html

£639.00 at the current conversion rate.

I bought a Cube LTD Pro last month from them and all was good. I saved £100 over buying from LBS

That's not the same bike. Forks not the same, even if they were it is still not worth the 140 difference.

And I agree, Rockrider is better value. Just sharing the link in case OP does go with the Acid.

Thanks for the advice guys! I like the voodoo and RR but I'm not to concerend spending a little bit more as I can tak adavantage of 0% finance at most places, so although the voodoo and RR are better value which is actually the better speced compared to the Acid? I've also found this giant xtc 2 2011. Is this spec alot better then the acid?

If it's the one from Pauls Cycles it's a serious deal.

I asked the same question before I ordered and got about 20 replies from various people saying they had ordered forks, tyres and complete bikes from there with no problems and quite often, quicker delivery than UK sites. Search the forum for "bike-discount.de any good?".

As I said, I ordered my Cube from there and it arrived in good time, no problems at all.
