brake pads not fully reseting

I have trektro auriga comp disc brakes. While I took the wheel off to clean it, I must of accidentally squeezed the brakes, causing the pads to move but not reset to their originally position. stupidly i did not push them back in place there and then, instead I have left them sitting in my garage all winter. Now when I try and put the wheel back on, the disk blade will not go in between the pads. I have tried using a knife to push them back in. Eventually i managed to make enough off a gap to squeeze it in, but the rubbing was horrific.

I have scoured youtube, and have tried re-alinging the disk brakes by lossening the two screws at the side then tightening them once again with the brake levers being squeezed. I have even tried using brand new pads but the problem is even worse now.
On close inspection with the pads completly out, the calaper on the outward side does not seem to go fully back, when comparing it to the one on the inside.

Any body got any ideas on how to fully reset the caliber? I have tried giving it a shove but it just won't move.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. As you can tell im not 100% sure what im talking about.

release some fluid as you push them home.

Get a big screwdriver, and turn it like a big key. Stick the old pads back first.

I recently bled my brakes (the same as yours) and when I stiffened up the lever by pushing in fluid, the pads rubbed against the rotor. Try releasing a bit of fluid using the bleed bolt on the reservoir, or loosening the bleed bolt on the calliper as nick said above

You don't need it. Buy some 4mm tubing, a syringe, and some mineral oil. About £6-7 of ebay.

The following is copied from a PM I wrote:

"1. Open the reservoir and remove the diaphragm. Top up the reservoir with fluid

    2. Attach tubing to the bleed nipple and place other end in a catch jar. Open the bleed nipple on the calliper using the spanner SLOWLY! You will see fluid start to rise up the tubing.

    3. Repeatedly squeeze the lever and keep topping up the fluid (so it doesn't run empty) and stop when bubbles stop coming out of the calliper or dirty brake fluid stops coming out. Dont let the fluid pour out of the calliper. Tighten nipple and put everything back together. Oh and try not to get oil on your pads/discs!

    4. If you want to firm up the lever, attach the syringe (with mineral oil in it) and tubing to the bleed nipple on the calliper. There must be fluid in the tubing as well so you're not pushing air back in. Open the nipple and force fluid in (the reservoir cap should be firmly closed at this point) then close the nipple again. Squeeze the lever a few times, check to make sure the wheel moves freely. If not, loosen the bleed bolt on the reservoir and let fluid leach out, till the wheel does run freely.

    Hope that makes sense"

Even if you by the bleed kit online, it won't come with the bleed valve. And the tektro one is totally useless. Try this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epic-Shimano- ... 640wt_1276 as it has pretty much everything you'll need. Its the same bleed process for tektro as most shimano brakes. :D

You are not doing a bleed, just open the nipple and let a tiny bit out, just hold a cloth next to it to mop it up - you are looking at a drop or two.
