Hi
Can someone recommend a good replacement tyre for a kids MTB (20" wheels).
Looking for something lighter than the stock tyres (not difficult), with a narrow centre for road use, but enough knobbies for off-road use - and puncture resistant. What about Micheling Diabolo or Scwalbe Black Jack?
Also - my son compalins about his plastic pedals and feet slipping off, so looking for some thing that a good fit for a kids bike, some platforms are just too big for kids little feet. Must be cheap(ish).

I know nothing about kids bikes but these people might be able to help http://www.islabikes.co.uk/ They specialise in bikes for junior.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Pedals, try welligo they do smaller platform sizes and tyres go for the black jack0

I have gone for tyres, still can not find pedals that are small, decent and dont cost the earth.0

I was after something similar a few weeks ago and Supersonic recommended these: http://www.triplebuttedcycling.co.uk/sa ... -159-p.asp
I admit that they aren't cheap but can definitely recommend them. A friend of mine bought a pair for his son's bike after seeing ours up close.
You can see pics of them on the bike here: viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=128536900 -
Oh, and if you haven't already bought the tyres, can definitely recommend the Kenda Small Block Eight: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... tedKingdom0

Yeah - someone had linked to those pedals before, however a bit out of my budget at moment!0

Wellgo V8 copies are £9 at CRC. They are small as adult pedals - but sizeable for kids... depends on what you mean by 'small'. They are at least proper grippy pedals, and not too heavy.
Islabikes come with Continental Explorers for off-road - they are about £10 each e.g. here or here. These are pretty good all rounders... OK on the road, and fine off-road until it gets proper muddy.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)

Got the black jack tyres, then have gone back for the Wellgo Pedal copies, my concern with them is they are (IMO) quite large, and the tread on them quite harsh, could turn my lads legs to shreds - you can unscrew the pins on these I think. Worst case I will use them on my pub bike, can't go wrong for £9!0

It's a tough choice... pins and a decent size give grip (with the right shoes), but if you do lose your footing they can hurt. Pedals with no grip hurt less, but are useless.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)
