Can anyone give me any honest feedback of their experience of buying a Canyon Mtb direct from Germany. Has anyone had any problems with a bike and had to return it??...any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Bought mine late last year in the sale (2011 Nerve XC 6.0). It arrived a couple of weeks late, with no communication explaining why. The saddle and grips were a different colour to the image supplied on the website. Also, the gears were set up poorly and lbs had to sort (cost covered by Canyon). So, not the greatest experience, but hardly the worst.
Would I buy from them again? In a heartbeat - one of the best purchases I have ever made.0 -
recieved my canyon nerve am a few weeks back. fantastic bike and service provided. very quick with replying to emails and the bike came well packaged, with a surprisingly quick delivery service by ups. trust me you wont be disapointedGiant xtc

Lovely bike and I would buy another like a shot.
Unfortunately I would never buy another bike from Canyon. You will love the bike just dont expect any aftercare if it goes wrong.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -
Stubs - I'm confused by your response. You would buy another like a shot but would never buy another bike from Canyon. Can you clarify - mixed messages.0

Its a mixed message but then my experience with the Canyon has been mixed. I know others have had no problems but unfortunately you only get the measure of a company when things go wrong.
I love the bike but wouldnt buy another from Canyon. They treated me like crap over a problem with the bike and then repeated the crap treatment over a set of pedals. Great bike I love it but Canyon are a well I wont go there in case I get a ban. I had trouble with a Commencal but couldnt fault the customer service even when the original bike had been bought over 3 years previously. Canyon have been a bunch of shits over customer service.
I will probably now get hammered by millions of people who have nothing but good things to say about Canyon UK but I can only report it as I have found it.

I have a Nerve XC 8 and have had no real issues with either the bike or Canyon, I had to get a QR replaced (stupid twisty DT thing broke), but got a new one from them very quickly.
Order one, check it over, DON'T assume that all parts you don't have to assemble are properly adjusted/tightened/routed/facing in the right direction (in other words use COMMON SENSE), and ride it, knowing you have bought a great bike at an excellent price.
A search on here will reveal some issues, as will a search for issues to do with almost any other make. The 99% of people who have no issues don't post.2011 Canyon XC 8.0 (Monza Race Red)

Superb bike and aftercare service in my experience. Bike arrived early and accurately tracked. I've had to return a brake which was turned around within a week including postage times. They fully covered the postage cost as well.
Highly recommended.0 -
I got a Nerve AM last year. Excellent service.
Also Cullen at Canyon UK has been excellent, as I need a few small pieces ( adapter plate for chain device and cable clips for mounting reverb post cable) he kindly sent bits FOC.

Bought two bikes. Nothing but good stuff to say. On a practical level, you are buying online and you are saving lots. There is a small 'gap of doom' that you may fall into, but the savings should compensate you for this. I fyou want what you perceive to be any easy way to buy a bike, head to Evans and buy a Specialized. Alternatively, buy online, take the savings but accept that if something does go wrong you're dealing with a foreign country.
If you're going to do it, do so with your eyes wide open.0
