stem front plate gap too big?

I'm fitting a new stem and the gap between the front plate and the stem body seems far too big. I've read that the two shouldn't touch as they'll pinch the bar but the gap I'm left with looks enormous, I've measured it at about 2/3mm. The clamp is 31.8 and the bar diameter is 31.8 as well so there shouldn't be an issue but I'm a little concerned.
How big a gap should there be, what's too big?
For the record the bar is a Race Face Deus 3/4 riser bar and the stem is a Race Face turbine, so same manufacturer therefore even less reason for a problem.

Sounds fine to me.0

Yep, make sure it's the same gap bottom and top, corner and corner. And that it 'cups' the bar.0
