Knackered Tyres?

How do you know/decide when your tyres are shot ? Do you wait 'til you can see thread poking through the rubber or.... Is it blatantly obvious, like, your getting flats pretty much every ride.

    It's fairly obvious when it's time for a new tyre.

    This was mine after a recent training camp in Spain....

    Repeated punctures, rubber worn down to the canvas, rubber peeling-off or cuts right through the carcass are all signs for replacement. In these parts, deep cuts inflicted by flints that expose the inner tube are generally what kill my tyres - annoyingly, sometimes on the first ride.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Just come back from training camp in spain... So my guess is packing for the flight.

    correct - pipe lagging (although it was an overnight coach from Cambrils to Luzern)
