Replacing bottom bracket and upgrading

I have a specialized enduro elite 2006 which I have had for the past year, and have been servicing and upgrading lots of the components recently. The bottom bracket I have at the moment is damaged its a Truvativ GXP, sealed outboard cartridge bearing, 73mm shell. What can I upgrad to? I have been looking at a hope gun smoke bb is this a possible replacement, as I read somewhere that it wasn't. I don't want to spend more than £100 really.
