Evening
Thought I would blithely start posting and then realised people introduced themselves, very sensible.

Am 40 this year and have rediscovered riding after 15 years of sailing and realising I am rubbish at it. I am poor at cycling but at least it involves less faffing about with water.

Got a Spesh rockhopper on the RTW scheme at work and have traded up to a Cube AMS 110 which I am still getting to grips with.

Based near Warrington and have tried some of the local spots - Llandgela, Grizedale, Rivvy Pike, Delamere etc. am ok on red routes but black are still to be tried!

Giles.

    Hello :D

I also come from a sailing background and have concluded that whilst i'm not especially good at either, they both involve getting wet and cold, and cost more than you expect, at least there's usually a cafe around selling cake when you're on a bike

You're right about the wet and cold (and expense) but i am finding it's less subject to the vagaries of the weather, I am also land locked so don't have access to the Solent like you do. I studied in Southampton so know how good the yotting can be!
