I'm fitting a front mech to my On One 456SS. I have been running it 1x9 until now so not sure which type of mech I need.
Will a top swing mech work or do I need a conventional one? And is there any advantage to using a 2x9 specific on a double ring set up? I have always just wound in the top limit screw when I have run 2x9 before.

A double specific can give better shifts if you fit a larger than 32T larger ring as the sideways ramps on the cages may not be in the right place, also double specific can work out a bit lighter.

It all depends on which the frame will take without fouling any mounts etc.
