As the title says..
What would you guys recommend ( only people who actually know the answer please! by this i mean unbiased! )
So which is faster rolling? or which just works better for xc racing?
I was also thinking going 2.1 rather then my usual 2.25 as i'm guessing they would roll faster still??
Also is there any other options I should maybe choose over these 2?

Here's a general comparison (based upon my experience) -
Ralphs:
-More cornering grip
-More durable
-Heavier
-Less traction
Rons:
-Less cornering grip
-Less durable (ridiculously skinny sidewall, ripped a couple in the south downs)
-Lighter (50g ish an end)
-More traction
I've found the Ralphs to be marginally quicker in terms of rolling resistance, but I dare say the difference is negligible to most.
I have (only one Ron in working order) a set of each, and have used Ralphs (F+R) all year round (on my main bike), which have suitable 95% of the time.
According to this study ( http://www.mtbonline.co.za/downloads/Ro ... trated.pdf ), you'd be wrong to say a narrower tyre is faster, I think it makes little difference, particularly if you run low pressure like myself.
Basically if I was told 'you're only allowed one set of tyres all year round', I'd pick the Ralphs, for said reasons.0 -
Just the answer I was after.. Great stuff thank you.Always remember.... Wherever you go, there you are.

Well, I went for some 2.4 racing Ralph evos, feels a bit wrong going for wide tyres to race with, but science doesn't lie..
@ pilch, yes I did... Wasn't a big fan of the course though.. Only 1 technical stretch which was too easy and the rest pretty much Tarmac... Total Roadies course, not mtb rider course .
Mallory park this Friday though! Much better!!!Always remember.... Wherever you go, there you are.
