new bikes and threadlock

Just finished my second ride on the new bike, and during a full wash down and checkover I noticed to my astonishment that the main allen bolt that basically holds the whole rear end together was almost falling out!!!!!
It was the bolt that runs through the horst link and through the rear shock. If the ride had been a couple of miles further I suspect the bolt would have fallen out completely , resulting in the rear end collapsing. At best would have screwed up my new bike and at worst coul have seen me and the bike in A&E!!!
Word of warning, to regularly check all important bolts and consider removal, and applying threadlock so this doesn't end in a mess...
anybody had any similar encounters??

Had it on a brand new honda fireblade a few years back (mine!!) , pretty much every bolt on the bike started to back its way out and I spent a whole day loctiting and re torquing everything. They were threadlocked but it hadnt stuck for some reason.
Im a yamaha technician and I dont think ive ever heard of any coming loose on them? It must have happened tho!0 -
was it a Trek by any chance?0
