voodoo, it is a much better spec and more future proof

better colour, better fork, hydraulic discs and no v's
    worst moment ever...
buzzing down twisting single track then.... psssst BANG!!!
  • Cheers....What's the deal with hydraulic brakes? Heard them bigged up a few times.

More powerful and less hassle, generally.

Also, from what I've tried in store (and as a fellow beginner), there seems a more definite bite with less lever travel on hydraulics.
  • Cheers matey...i'm complete beginner and love that there's so much to this sport any advice is well received

    disk brakes and especially hydros

    advantages

have more power if dry and particularly the wet/ mud
    generally less maintenance
more bite and less effort at the lever to apply a giving braking force
no mechanical drag in cables if hydro
dirty hoses wont deteriorate the brake feel and power if hydro
easy to up power and heat dissipation with bigger rotor and mount
longer lasting pads that can be altered to riding conditions
    less fade
are not really affected by a slightly buckled wheel
wont ruin tyres if not set up perfectly
    look better/ cleaner bike lines

    disadvantages

    heavier than v brakes
    more complicated to service
pads more expensive but last longer
if oil gets on pads its game over need new ones and clean the rotors
if you get rotors that are to large then you can potentially damage forks etc
    worst moment ever...
buzzing down twisting single track then.... psssst BANG!!!
  • Happy days matey...cheers for the reply.
