i am currently in the process of choosing/sourcing parts for my new bike build a mini dh/freeride bike..
i am undecided on what brakes to run, money being tight rules out expensive options like saint and formula the ones which would be my first choice..
so i have to look at cheaper options,, so i ask all you fellow schrelpers out there who have the new generation xt brake and slx brakes,,
1 how long have you been using them and have you encounterd the leaking issues i been reading about on various forums.
2 how do you rate them cpmpaired to other brakes you have used, what other brakes you comparing them to..
cheers.

been suing two sets of xt brakes since february and they have been by far and away the best brakes I've ever ridden. Huge power, great modulation and if you buy from rose then they are the bargain of the century. Not quite convinced by the ice tech rotors, but they do seem to be abit cooler than usual after a long descent, but I doubt its nearly 100 degrees cooler as claimed! overall they are sweet brakes, easy to use, seem reliable and look and perform fantastically well. Other than perhaps XTR's I'd refuse to use anything else, up there with my reverb in terms of best buy ever0

I've some First gen SLX brakes that I've been meaning to put up for sale, you can have them for very cheap if you like. With 200mms they're pretty powerful - I was happy enough with them on the Torque, the saints were a bit of a needless upgrade.0

It is simply the best bike brake I've ever used, nothing else has even come close. It's ability to just keep working and keep working, even on stupid terrain where you have to constantly control your speed. It's zero maintenance issues, and great pad life.0
