You know the ones that are like the roadie levers where you move the lever up and down to shift gear and pull it for brakes

Has any one used em?? Reason being Ive found some Hydraulic calipers for buttons, and need some masters and these A: look the dogs reproductive organs B: are XT and not Acera like my groupset so must be better than the ones in the groupset, and C: are bloody cheap!!

Any thoughts or are they guff??

It's 40 atm. I'd give them a miss. But that's me, though I don't think they do them anymore.

I wouldn't use them. Have some combined ones on the other bike and its hard to get the lever where you want it relative to the shifting. Also what happens if you want a different rear mech? You have to ditch the whole unit and get a new brake lever too.

Not nice - I had some on an old bike and chucked them for seperate ones.

I've got a friend with an old cannondale that's got them. He loves them, I've tried his bike and didn't like them.

I got the XT version as part of a groupset from Merlin 6 years ago, came as a surprise as there was no mention of them in the description. I ran them for 6 years without any problems at all and only changed to upgrade the brakes to this years XT, it's very much a love/hate thing and I only know 2 other people that have used them. I personally wouldn't get them again for reasons already stated by others.
