10 Speed Rear Mech Length?

Ive just found that the rear mech on my Stumpjumper is playing up so I'm looking at replacing it.

It currently runs an X9 10 speed long cage mech and I'll replace it with another X9. If I'm currently running it as 3x10 but plan on converting to 2x10, should I go for long cage or medium cage?

    Go medium, you want to take out as much slack as you can to keep chain tension. It sometimes isn't the case with all bikes but with the stumpy i can't see it causing any problems if the chain is shortened appropriately.
