.:::Which Workstand for a Madone:::.

Hello All,
Yet another Workstand thread.... Sorry.
I'm looking to purchase a workstand for use with numerous bikes, one being a 2012 Trek Madone.
I've been looking at the Park Tool PCS-9 (or something similar in the same price range) which looks ideal but I've noticed that Bont have the Bontrager Madone Seatpost Clamp Adapter, which they claim is "essential if you want to work on the new Trek Madone in a work stand":

I was wondering if the Clamp Adapter is absolutely necessary or if clamping the seatpost would be fine, but if it is necessary would anyone happen to know of any issues with the clamp and any workstands (specifically the PSC-9/10)?
First look at a Workstand so I don't want to end up wasting any unnecessary money...
Thank You,
Jason

Probably best to be safe than sorry for under £20...
