Trek Remedy 8 and going single speed up front

Hi all i have recently purchased a trek remedy 8 2012 and was thinking of going single speed up front what will i need to do this i was thing new cranks and chain guide but then what do i need to look out for.

    Just adjust your mech so you stay in one cog. Done

    i was wanting to strip the extra we there e.g the mech cabling and shifter so that wouldnt work

    You can do it by setting the High and Low screw limiters, jamming the mech in one position, thus removing the cabling and shifter.
