Hi,

A friend of mine is looking to purchase his 1st decent bike and want something that is not too flash he has narrowed his choice down to 2 bikes and has asked me which he should get, I am very new to this so dont have a clue and have had to rely on the advice given on this board for my own queries recently.

I would appreciate any advice given.

Little in it - the OnOne has slacker, more stable geometry, but this can feel slow to handle. And their weight is very optimistic, if that is 12kg I will chop my man sausage off.

It depends a lot how and what he wants to ride. If general trails and XC, the Genesis will be the better bet as will be lighter. Also has a better drivetrain.

    Thanks for the reply.

He will mainly be riding local woodlands and Delamere forest but says he is looking to progress onto harder trails as his skill level increases, he is looking for something that will be capable of the really rough stuff in the long term.

    Thanks again

The OnOne will be a little better in that respect, but not always best to start off with a hard hitting rig. The head angle is very slack - great when going down, but on tight twisty trails steers noticably slowly.
