You are not restricted to Halfords. There are some shops out there that will accept the Halfords vouchers - Pearsons, Leisure Lakes, Sigma Sport are a few.
Halfords will also source most makes of bikes for you - they quoted me on Cannondale, Felt, Cube but I ended up taking my voucher to Sigma Sport.

Virago and Road Team can be had with an extra 10% off using NUSMAY12 voucher code.
  • send the halfords guys an email with your wishlist and they very quickly give you a price and availability info. They gave me quotes for Cannondale, Specialized, Giant and finally Cube. I got a Cube. Some bikes are available for immediate delivery, some take longer, depending on distributor stocks.

Yep, if you are concerned about brand names then send them your wish list; if you want the best bike for your dosh, buy the Boardman.
  • Hello all (first post been lurking), I agree with Grony, after much research on here, yesterday I went and bought the Boardman Road Team. Lovely looking bike, had an excellent experience with Halfords (so far), the gentlemen who dealt with me knew his Onions. As stated above you can buy the bike with an additional 10% off using a code NUSMAY12 and also 4% from going through quidco. Also if you want any additional items accessories dont buy them online as instore they still have the 3 for 2 offer on.

    Thanks for all the advice.

    Its a pretty difficult decision......

Both bikes seem to get a good write up, but the consensus here seems to be the boardman!

I have no issues with brand name and will be buying one of the two bikes from halfords!

I have an Giant currently so was kinda being swayed toward the virago cause of the carbon. and the reviews say that the issues with virago are the frame being a wee bit flexy if you are racing and also the wheels aren't great. The racing thing does not concern me and wheels are easily upgraded!

I think i may just go into the shop and try each and which ever one I find more comfortable will be the one I buy....... bad idea?

Thanks again for all the advice!!

Sounds good. Ring your store in advance as they might not have both built up in the size you want to try. Also not every store stocks the Virago as range but they can order it in for you. Depends on the size of store I believe
