Giant owners/ Cyclescheme suggestions

I miss having a road bike as I'm not hard enough to go on long rides on my SS. I'm thinking of going down the bike to work route with Cyclescheme.

I've found a Giant TCR Alliance 2010 with Paul's Cycles for £950. I've never had a Giant before so could do with some advice on sizing just to get an idea. I'll go to a shop and get fitted but for preliminary research purposes, I'd appreciate if any Giant owners could tell me what size frame they ride. I'm 6,2" 33" inside leg and have ridden Cannondale 58cm and Ribble 58cm in the past.

Any bike recommendations under £1000 would also be welcome.

Cheers.

Dean

I have a Defy 4 in an XL which is 58.5 cm. I am 6ft3 this bike is really comfortable on rides of up to 60 miles that I am doing at the moment.

You should fit a L or XL depending on your body proportions.

    I'm 6ft and ride a M/L 2012 Defy.

The 2012 Defy 1 seems very well spec'd and well reviewed for a grand...

I had a Giant SCR in XL, which I think has similar geometry. I'm 6'3" with 34" inside leg. I found the SCR a bit long and changed because of that.

Depending on your position on the bike and what your reach is, you could be either L or XL - depends what feels most comfortable I guess.

I have a defy 4 in XL and am 6ft 5, seems to be about right, may just need to play around with the length of the stem, I seem to have locked out elbows when on the hoods
  • I find that Giant's run large because of their compact geometry, I'd be looking at effective top tube, reach, stand over and drop. Giant do have a sizing guide themselves, they say a size M will fir people from 5'7" to 5'10", I'm 5'7" and i ride a medium defy alliance, but I run a 90mm stem
