"Unfixable" bike

So I see a similar thread to this and was wondering your thoughts.
To remove bias, Ill not mention where I bought the bike from and cant name the brand...but its VERY well known.
I bought a hardtail for racing about three months ago and a part on it has now broken - the rear mech hanger. It's a part that could be classed as wear-and-tare and most people don't brake them, but I don't think it can be classed as a manufacturing defect. k?
The bike is well maintained and has only done 5 races, none of which have involved a crash, drop or abuse of the bike. During an endurance race at the start of the month I was pedalling up a hill and the thing ripped off. All day it felt lose and I was constantly slipping gears. I have spent the last 2+ weeks trying to get a replacement. The shop where I purchased it don't have the part, don't know where to get it and basically don't want to know.
The manufacturer can't be contacted as far as I can see and the part that folk are suggesting...doesn't fit. So the manufacturer must have updated the part over the years?
Anyone know what to do? I have a last hope from another supplier which Ill not get until Saturday but I don't know what to do. Should the shop be taking over and helping me source the part? The bike is useless and cannot be ridden and I'm getting a bit desperate.
Thanks

This may remove bias ( ) but it also removes any chance of people being able to help you.
We need makes, model numbers, and details.
How can someone tell you how to get hold of a part when they have no idea what it is or who makes it??0 -

LOL True I suppose
2012 Cube Ltd Race and it is the 'Frame Save System' aka rear mech hanger that is broken.
I have one supplier left and I'm putting all my eggs on/in that shop.

You are a better Googler than I it would seem, but that isn't in stock. That part number will help though0

This one looks like it could be it. Not bad for £9 - I could care less about the colour now .0 -

Your right, my bad, the other guys seem to have found pretty good matches though.0 -
Right I have ordered the 10123 from here:
http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/produc ... earhangers
And the 207 from BETD.
Manly tears will be shed if one of these friggen things work0 -

If they both fit then bonus, you have a spare for next time you break it.
The rear hangers are designed to break, they are built as a sacrificial part to save your rear mech (more expensive to replace). Replacing them therefore shouldn't be too much of a chore as they are designed to need replacing.0 -
Hopefully when your bike arrives, you wont experience this problem. Or at least when you do, you'll know what to buy .
Thanks all round0 -

Haha yeah, I will be watching this thread for when you receive your new hanger and if one of them fits, I shall be bookmarking the websites for my future reference!0 -

They do break quite frequently.0 -

As Yeehaa says to save the frame not necessarily the rear mech!0 -
And on the subject of why it snapped, it sounds like your rear mech isn't indexed properly, given that it happened while you were climbing (presumably grinding up in the lowest gear/largest cog), I would think that it was because it was sitting too close to the spokes and got sucked in. Have a play with the "low" index screw on the mech, can't remember whether you screw it in or out, but whichever way pushes it away from the spokes probably a mm or two.0

There's a few different hangers that look exactly like that but have detail differences, btw. But BETD did take mine back without any fuss when I discovered they didn't fit (not on a Cube tho)Uncompromising extremist0
