Acceptable amount of wheel wobble (video)?

As per the title really, is this an acceptable amount of wheel wobble and considered normal or do I need to get tuned? Not noticing any adverse effects whilst riding I don't think. Just fitted Mountain King Mk2's.

Mine are worse than that ;-)
But is the wheel or the tyre seating? Most likely the latter.0 -
personally i would get it trued.. if it is the wheel and not the tyre..
i bet it will only get worse...
can a tyre give the illusion that the wheel is buckled.?www.bearbackbiking.com

Yep, the tyres often make it look like the wheel is buckled.0

Thanks, difficult to tell whether the wheel or tyre to be honest - although I have removed and reseated the tyre several times and all looks to be seated correctly... no easy way to tell is there?
What does a shop normally charge to true a wheel? Assume I could just take them both in without the bike and they could do it for me quickly and easily?0 -
£10 per wheel to true and tension. But try and see if the wheel is out of true (sellotape a marker to the frame ie a zip tie, that touches the rim and spin). Check for loose spokes.0

usually around £5-£10 to true a wheel..
can do it yourself plenty of vids on youtube and info on parktools website.www.bearbackbiking.com

muran - could you not mount the wheel without tube or tyre and see if the rim is wobbling when spinning in air? This would remove the question mark over tyre/rim...0

One of mine wobbles a fair bit. I've had it out and in the stand a couple of times, as best I can tell it's true, just has a couple of dings on it affecting the tyre seating... when it comes to riding it I don't notice at all to be honest.
What with the size of the tyre and the the fact that it squashes out/expands a bit as it contacts the ground it's not much of a worry for me. Spokes are fairly evenly tensioned and all seem to keep their tension so I'm happy.0 -
Spokes all seem tight enough, not noticed any change there ...
Like the idea of sellotaping the marker to the frame touching the rim and seeing how that alters as I spin the wheel. Why didn't I think of that!?
Also good plan to mount the wheel without tyre and tube attached. I will try that next time I am tinkering.
I don't notice any adverse effects while riding either so maybe I am being a bit critical. I don't really want to start messing with spoke tensions with the limited knowledge I have at the moment but I won't rule it out altogether having watched the guides.
Some great advice here. Really like this forum - if only they would add tapatalk compatability as I have been asking for since I joined :-(0 -
If all the spokes are tight and you can't tell when riding, then I'd say it's fine. As others have said, I've thought I've buckled wheels before when really I've just blown the tyre off the rim getting far too gnarly in the corners0

Yeah I think I will just ride and enjoy ... sounds best plan of action. Tyre definitely not off the rim though or even seated incorrectly as far as I can see.0
