Marin palisades trail 2010

I've been looking round for a half decent mtb , didn't want to spend more than £500 really so was almost decided between a voodoo hoodoo and a rockrider. Then I spotted a used 2010 Marin palisades trail on eBay that is fairly local to me, it was a reserve auction with ages to run so didn't have a clue how much the seller thought it was worth. I did some research and found winstanleys bike are selling 2011 model for £599 so I offered the guy £300 to sell outside eBay , and after a little uming and arring ,he agreed.
I'm sure this is a bargain but haven't picked it up yet, the pics looked fine and the guy seems genuine. Any got any views on this model of bike? I found a few threads saying its overpriced for the spec when new, rrp is over £800 I think.
