OT: Eating out in Bristol

I know there are a couple of Bristol Commuters on here so I'm asking for a bit of help. We are off to Bristol for Saturday night, staying in a hotel in the centre (The Bristol) and I need to take my wife somewhere nice for an anniversary meal. Not too flash as we are on a budget, but nice food and nice ambience.
Can any of you suggest somewhere?
Thanks

both on the waterfront but away from the Saturday night madness of Bristol city center. If you want somewhere to eat in the day Saturday go to the Glass Arcade at http://www.stnicholasmarketbristol.co.uk/location - the best selection of cheap amazing food. http://foodandwinefinds.blogspot.co.uk/ ... nicks.html0 -
McDonalds or Buger King are in the centre of town as are kebab shops.

What tastes? Flavourz on the centre caters for all tastes and is all you can eat for £12 + drinksI've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

+1 for the street food in St Nicholas Market for lunch. In the evening its worth taking a stroll up Christmas Steps to Zero Degrees http://www.zerodegrees.co.uk/location-bristol.html. Great views from the terrace if its not raining. Don't forget to check out the amazing street art in and around Nelson St either on the way there or back. Or if you like Indian food, then try Old India in St Nicholas St. The food's OK, but the venue is exceptional - its the old Stock Exchange building, all marble and mahogany and appears not to have been much altered, esp the toilets!!Bike1

All of the above:
If you feel that you can break the bank, try Hotel Du Vin - it is opposite Evans cycle shop, so its a win win!
Glassboat is really good - get to eat food, on a boat on Welshback, may even see the rowing crews out.
Also try Severn Shed or Mud Dock: http://www.mud-dock.co.uk/
In fact, if you walk out of the front door of the Bristol Hotel and turn right towards princes street bridge, there is a Spanish Tapa place on the corner and then Mud Dock just around the corner, literally 50 yards away!
Mud Dock is a restaurant, bar and cycle shop all in one.0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions for this. I've shown my wife the links and she is going to have a look and let me know where she'd like to go. The only place it is not likely to be is Hotel du Vin, we've got one in Winchester she's been waiting 11 years for me to take her to, so I don't want to rush things.
thanks for the help0
