Don't forget to tell them all how strong you are before you set off. Let them know your FTP is 360W.

I'm sure he's hidden it well or taken it with him. Presumably he's got his nice bike too.

Let's wait till he gets back. He's so unfit he'll pass out and we can get all the goodies then.

Club rides, at 0915, on a Wednesday?! Am I missing something?

    So, how did it go?

The chaps I used to go out with had a Thursday morning run as well - shift workers, retired etc. TBH I'm not really a regular club run person as I do other sports, but stopped a group last w/e near me. Seemed a nice bunch so could be Ermington at 8.20am on a Saturday for me soon, once the barn is finished :) Bloody hilly here though :((

Our club has "work dodger" rides just about every day of the week, generally you would be encouraged to go first to the regular sunday club ride to learn the ropes first though.

Yeah suppose it makes sense. Can't be bad.

I'm toying with getting in touch with Kingscliffe Flyers and riding with them on a Sunday morning but they don't meet till 0930 and by that time I can be half way through a solo ride, home before 11 and spending time with the family . I enjoy a nice club run but haven't done one since I lived near St Ives (Cambs). St Ives CC were/are a nice bunch.

I remember my first ever club run. It was the sunday before christams 198seventytwentythree. I wore a kodak freebie rain jacket from Wimbledon for journos that was given to me, a pair of tracksuit bottoms and trainers jammed into a pair of toe clips and straps. The first thing I noticed was that everybody seemd to be pedalling like the clappers and going slowly. Still, it blew a howling gale and I was soaked to the skin. 45 miles later and more hills than Brittany, I felt like I had just done the TDF, came home shattered and high as a kite. Brilliant, I will never forget that day.

I think this particular club as a wednesday morning ride for the oldies. Gizmodo is young(er) but work shy

    How did it go then?

I'm definatley on the work-dodger side, not quite retirement age yet :D I did phone the club chairman last night to double check it would be ok for me to join in and he was more than happy.

They have 2 groups on a Wednesday, I ended up with the slightly faster 'A' group, we did 50 flat miles at a steady 15.1mph average. There were 13 riders in the group including 4 ladies  My first time riding with ladies - cycling, I mean cycling! There were some very nice views :P

There was a wide age range, yes there were some retired gentlemen and there were younger shift workers, then there were the work dodgers like me :D Several had entered triathlons or TT races and were using it to build up miles.

Really enjoyed it! Will definatley go back next week, but must take more Eccles.

Cleat - you wouldn't want my porn stash, not enough blubber for your tastes

By accident. Noone on the actual day said anything to me about groups, a few older chaps went off then the rest of the group not long after. It was well into the ride when I realised there were some missing so I asked if there was going to be a stop which is when I learnt I was in the 'A' group. Given the pace that was fine by me. I assume they looked at me and decided I was 'A' group material.

Well I'm fed up of waiting for you, only to be shunned in favour of Cleat and his stash of Munter Porn
I've already asked Adam out again and no amount of begging from you will see me take you back. It's over :!:

to be fair he looks like he's in good form, but there are clearly signs of why Adam hasn't got a girlfriend...
