Hi,
Thinking about getting some XT hydro brakes BR-M785 from bikediscount.de, and have a couple of questions for anyone who has any experience of the site and brakes:
1. I presume the brakes will come the 'wrong' way round. Am I correct?
2. Is swapping them easy, or can it be troublesome? Any info on what needs doing would be useful, and also what could go wrong!
Cheers,
Rob

all the info is in the manual. the worst is a bleed.
for details you need to give part numbers."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I bought some from Rose a couple of months ago. They came with the rear caliper on the right lever. Swapped them over no problem. I actually done this in the server room at work before getting them home and onto the bike. There's a rubber cover where the hose meets the lever, pull this back to reveal the locknut, undo the locknut and the hose just pulls out. Push them back in the correct levers, do up the lock nut, push the rubber cover back into place and you're good to go. The fluid didn't even drip nevermind spray everywhere and my brakes have been fine since.0

I think you can buy both right and left for each there. I went for the Euro style anyway as my Cube came that way and I am used to it now.
You'll probably have to shorten the cables though, it's fairly easy.
Keep calipers lower than levers, remove stoppers in caliper, take out pads, squeeze the lever a few times to poke the caliper out about 5mm, take off the rubber seal at the lever, undo the bolt, pull it out (not much will leak out but have something on the ground anyway), cut the cable to suit, fit the spare insert and olive that comes with it (can be a bit tough to get the insert in but make sure the new hole is properly round), push it back in while tightening nut, push rubber seal back in, push calipers back in with a plastic tyre lever, fit pads and stoppers and walah!0 -

I keep seeing the great deals on XT brakes from Rose, but then it dawns on me that I already have an XT front brake, so if I bought the "rear" from Rose, I'd end up with two right hand levers, and a long brake hose, whereas if I bought a "front" from rose, I'd have one of each lever, but not enough hose to plumbify it all up.
Then my ADD kicks in and I forget about it until the next time someone mentions Rose.0 -

Aye this sounds familiar - I probably only needed the front to be honest, but got both anyway. Ah well0
