I'm not to keen on the looks and what's the point of an electric motor for as i thought you were suppose to pedal a mountain bike .

I was more concerned about the "wheely mode" and the trick computer?! Who is going to be using a 46lb electric bike for tricks?!!!?!?!

They seem to have paid far too much attention to copying motorcycle design than mountain bike design. Why would you want upside down forks on an MTB, why not have the motor close to the drive end, build in to the free hub?

There are bikes with upside down suspension, i'm sure there's an expensive specialized with them

simples. less unsprung weight. and do you want gears or not?

dont forget these can not be fully electric just power assist.

About 10% weight difference on the forks, but not so good in puddles. You could still have gears, the motor coils would be in the hub and the magnet around the shaft, giving you the ability to use your motor as a rear brake to recharge the cell. Wouldn't be any good for the road of course.

Is it not 'Barry knows better' now? Last time I was over the berms and shizz at the bottom had been in for a few months.. has there been more work going on?

Barry Knows Better was a while back now. That was when they got decent funding and the trail builder expert dude (forget the name) to sort out the ending with big berms (though I miss the old rooty ending). Sadly the big berms turned into a mess of braking bumps.

On and off there's been work and recently they've been there with a digger. There's been a bit of work on the upper berms to sort out breaking bumps, not the lower ones though. Main work seem to have been on a new line which is where the digger has been in use. Appears this will just replace an existing section with a more sustainable one. Would be nice if it was more fun, but probably not.

There's another dig day coming up to finish it off. Did sign up to the volunteer list so might go along. Need to park the Audi as near as possible though and when done I'll need an ever more expensive bike to ride it ;)

So why do they bother with uplifts?

So we can use a light agile viscous bike to smash down, which that isnt. and when i say light i mean in comparison to that.

Aren't the "gubbins" of MTB suspension forks in the stanchions though, meaning that just turning them upside down results in more unsprung weight?

Wow.. goes to show how long it's been since I rode over there.. I've been doing smaller rides recently due to a knee injury. Shall have to get over and help out. Bookmarked the link, thanks DK :)

Also I agree, much preferred the old 'waterfall' ending, the berms tamed it down a bit much..

Still, I won't be able to ride BKB without the new Audi electro-bike.. I'm off to the dealership with a wad of £50's.
