boardman mtb mudguards

I was looking over my 2010 model and noticed that it has some holes where it appears you can fit mudguards. The halfords and boardman sites say you can't, but I wonder if you can after fitting road tires.

Has anyone tried it?

    Are you sure they aren't drainage holes? Are they threaded?

    The ones on the bottom near the wheel are threaded. The ones about the wheel (I.e. where the rim type brakes would fit) or the one behind the BB isn't.

    It seems like it has all the right holes especially if I drop to a thinner road tire.
