Tyre weights - how accurate?

Hi all

I have been browsing tyres and the Conti X-King Racesport folding 2.4 is shown as 560g on CRC. My current HIgh Roller DH Single Ply Wire 2.35 is shown as 850g. I like the idea of a high volume, lower tread tyre on the front for the summer and a 290g weight saving on a tyre for £40 seems like a decent performance upgrade.

Can anyone advise on the accuracy of these figures please?

(I don't own any suitable scales! :) )

Cheers

Andy

Looked on weight weenies - they have more accurate scales than all the cartels in Columbia.

850g for a wire bead HR is possibly a little optimistic a 2.5 folding Minion is 850g.

The weight for the Conti does not seem unreasonable but I imagine it will have sidewalls made of paper.

If you're looking for a faster high volume tyre have a look at Ardents/Advantages 650g or so for a folding 2.25.
