Front shock recommendation.

Afternoon everyone. Im really not liking the feel of the standard front shock on my giant revel 1, it's a suntour sr with 80mm travel and is pretty rubbish. I want to upgrade it to a shock with all the "bells and whistles" I've started to race in some xc events so I'd like the shock to also be light. Sadly I haven't a clue what's good or bad shocks seem to confuse me :(
Would anyone have some recommendations for a shock with 100mm of travel and with a budget of £400???

Thanks Neil

RockShox Reba RLT would be a good bet.

Most people will call it a fork by the way.......

Merlin are doing 100mm Sid RCT3 for just £350 at the moment. This is a great 100mm fork. Worth every penny.

Just looked at the reba looks and sounds good, what's everyone's thoughts on fox forks???
I'm seeing loads of them in the magazine adverts and YouTube vids are they as good as rockshock or the same just over priced???

    Thanks neil

presumably you're on a tight-ish budget? Fox forks are good, however their equivalent to rockshox etc is much more expensive. Unless you're going to go for one of their top of the range models, they're not worth it. Their low end models are pretty crap compared to Rockshox' high end stuff.

RockShox make the SID ;-) Is a good deal, a lighter version of the Reba with more expensive machined internals.

Quite. The Sid is Reba's lighter brother. Looks very similar, but weighs less and the RCT3 damping is excellent.

instead of spending more on a shock than your bike cost why not get a voodoo hoodoo for £405 with discounts, its got a decent shock and flog your old bike .......
