Mab, I take a size 9 normal shoe. My Specialized Road Shoes are a size 45 and fit perfectly.

I am a size 11 UK, and have a snug fitting 46 and a much looser fitting 47 pair of specialized shoes.

I'm 10 and 10.5 in shoes and have spesh 46 shoes. I also once made the terrible mistake of buying a beautiful pair of Sidi shoes over the internet and wore them for far too long before admitting that they just didn't fit me. FWIW I'd say it was vital to try on the actual shoes you're buying before you get them.

As above, try them on if you can.
I had a pair of S-Works shoes for about 5 years. Bought the new model this year in the same size 8.
Felt ok but my club runs have recently doubled in distance so it was only after that length of time in the saddle I realised they were too tight on the toes.
So, new size 9's bought and nearly new ones on eBay!

I'm a UK10 but always wear 45 in Specializeds still (despite the 45s being labelled as size 11 on the box). 45 in Shimano and Northwave as well.

I'm a UK 10 45 and have 45 Lakes at the moment tried on Spesh Elite and Comps yesterday and would need a 46 for width despite coming up as 45 on Spesh archometer

I'm shoe size 10. Spesh shoes always come up 45 for me; Sidi are slightly smaller fit and I need 46 in them. Because of differences in feet width, arch height, etc. you really ought to try them on in a decent shop if buying if buying a particular brand/ model for the first time.
