Worn out rim replacement on factory wheels-is it worthwhile?

I currently have a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Elites on my new road bike. When the rims are eventually worn out is it worthwhile having new ones fitted at my LBS, or is it almost cheaper to scrap them and buy a new pair?

I dont think Mavic sell the rims to LBS... They need to go back to Mavic and be done. (According to my LBS). Mavic also insist on changing all the spokes if they take the tention off to keep them reliable, so you will only be saving the hubs. That said - ask, they are $450 new, so if its £350 or less it could be worth it.

Thanks, Steve, that was exactly what I wanted to know.
